I'm an Internet technology business solution strategist, software architect, and development leader specializing in interactive marketing and social media. For the greater part of my 15-year career I have worked with large interactive marketing agencies, building high profile solutions for online marketing, e-commerce, and Internet-based businesses. I started with US Web (formerly Ensemble Systems, later marchFIRST) and, most recently, worked with Avenue A | Razorfish. I left Razorfish to start Mediassembly. Mediassembly is developing software to help companies design, execute, monitor, and optimize social media marketing initiatives.
I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. After graduating from U.T. EL Paso in 1993; I married my wife, Rebecca and moved to Dallas. We are very proud parents of two wonderful boys.
I had two hobbies growing up as a kid - photography and programming. After graduating high school, I went on to study photography at the Books Institute in Santa Barbara. My interests were primarily in landscape, nature, and artistic/creative photography. I was not interested in portrait photography or photojournalism, which are two of the easiest entry points for a career in photography. I ultimately realized that I would likely be a starving artist for quite some time before (possibly) making a name and sustainable career for myself. So I fell back on my more reliable interest - software. That choice has worked out well for me.
Growing up in a family of small business owners, I've always been very entrepreneurial. I've helped many clients and several colleagues start successful businesses. I thrive in that environment of high energy and intensity. Consulting remained appealing to me for so long because each new project can feel like a new venture. I typically take on projects that involve assembling a team, flushing out a vision, and creating and executing on a plan to drive a product or system from inception to delivery. To me, that is a lot of fun.
I am always interested in meeting new people and getting other perspectives. My Contact page includes a meebo chat widget. Don't hesitate to initiate a chat when you see me online. Also, feel free to send me an email or twitter message, or leave a comment on a post. I try to respond to everyone by the end of the day - and usually do.
